Book of the Month: Women around the Messenger by Muhammad Ali Qutb

Alhamdulillah, we are excited to introduce our Book of the Month series here at The Islamic Book Cafe. We are starting with a book that is close to our hearts and one of our best sellers — Women around the Messenger by Muhammad Ali Qutb.

About the Book

This work is meant to dispel misconceptions by bringing into focus the biographies of the first generation of Muslim women and the important roles they played in the overall development of early Islamic society — right from its very beginning.

The women of the Prophet's era were not passive figures in the background of history. They were scholars, teachers, warriors, businesswomen, and mothers. They sacrificed their wealth, their families, and in some cases their lives for this religion. And their stories — preserved in the classical sources — are a legacy that belongs to every Muslim woman today.

Women of all ages and backgrounds will be able to look to these women as real role models — not idealized figures, but human beings who faced real trials and emerged with their faith, dignity, and character intact.

Why We Chose This Book

We chose Women around the Messenger to launch our Book of the Month series for two reasons. First, it is consistently one of our most-purchased titles. Second, a significant portion of our community consists of Muslim women seeking books that speak to their experience — and this book does exactly that.

Throughout the month we will be sharing excerpts and reflections from this book on our blog. If you have already read it, we would love to hear your thoughts — which woman's story resonated most with you?
